The Taliban Consider Women's Cosmetics a Threat to Their Rule

The international organization "Global Initiative" has stated in a recent report that the Taliban continue their relentless suppression of women, even targeting symbols of their independence and identity within their homes.

The report emphasizes that the Taliban view cosmetics as a threat to their authority, raiding homes and confiscating women's personal belongings, thereby violating their safety. Following the official closure of women's beauty salons across the country, the Taliban have begun inspecting homes suspected of secretly providing cosmetic services.

In February of this year, the Taliban's morality police stormed several homes in Sar-e Pol province, seizing all cosmetic items and threatening the owners. These actions are part of the Taliban's broader policies aimed at restricting women's freedom and independence.

The Taliban had previously ordered the closure of all women's hair salons and barred women from attending schools, universities, sports facilities, and even working at the United Nations. The group has also imposed strict dress codes on women and declared their voices to be "awrah" (something that must be concealed).
