Taliban Supreme Court: Flogging of Five People in Faryab and Kunduz for Allegations of Running Away from Home and Extramarital Relations
The Taliban Supreme Court has announced the flogging of five individuals in the provinces of Faryab and Kunduz on charges of running away from home and engaging in extramarital relations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 5, the court stated that three individuals, including a woman, were flogged in Belcheragh district of Faryab for allegedly running away from home. Each of them was sentenced to one year in prison and 39 lashes.
Additionally, another individual was also sentenced to 39 lashes. Meanwhile, two individuals, including a woman, were flogged in Kunduz for alleged extramarital relations. They were each sentenced to two years in prison and 39 lashes.
Despite international condemnations, the group continues to conduct summary trials.
